A Company Handbook sets out the company’s policies and procedures and should be available to all staff regardless of position.

Sometimes allied a Staff Handbook or Employee Manual, it sets out the company’s procedures on things such as disciplinary procedures, sickness and holiday policies.

A Company Handbook is not a contract of employment but it sits alongside the Contract of Employment and should give clear advice to staff on how the business operates. It contains definitions, expectations, guidelines, rules and policies around amongst others:

  • Timekeeping
  • Pay and benefits
  • Probation periods
  • Policies around sexual and racial harassment
  • Drug and alcohol
  • Equal rights policies
  • Internal promotion procedures

  • Termination of employment
  • Grievance policy
